also to load up things quicker

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Theres an extension called fasterfox that might help you. I think it pretty much does what mike posted about automatically.

As bioforger mentioned, the Fasterfox extension does was mike1210 listed and a lot more. Worth having.

My current extensions are colorful tabs, leet key (silly techy thing), PDF download, GMail notifier, IE view, tabbrowser preferences, attensa (RSS feed), Fasterfox and Adblock. AzertyIII is nice clean theme, along the lines of Noia.

On the techy side, IE will load quicker because Windows preloads the DLLs when you boot up - Firefox doesn't do this - hence it is slower. Two ways around this - use Linux ( ) or try this program called Firefox Preloader, which effectively does what Windows and IE do.

Tried Fasterfox earlier on today - debatable whether it made any difference - according to the timer in the bottom right corner it was still taking anything from 1.203 seconds to 80 seconds to load a page ( and guess what site that was on, folks ).

So I've now installed WinOptimizer Platinum Suite 2.11 (full version) - the difference is something else (only hope the computer will start up OK next time - you should have seen the amount of stuff it found and deleted)
