Lightbulb iTunes and dual core processors

If anyone out there has an Amd x2 processor and want to run iTunes, you may run into problems with it crashing all the time.

I've been trying to run it on my Amd 64 x2 4800+ without very much success at all, then after a bit of searching on the net, it appears that the Apple software does not like multiple processor machines

This can be gotten around by starting itunes, then bringing up task manager, selecting "set affinity" on the itunes.exe process, and deselecting one of the processors. It's a bit of a bodge, but it seems to work, and it's the only way to get it running reliably until Apple decide to try and fix it...

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else out there is having similar problems...

Iain,
Report it to Apple, never know, they might fix it.

I wonder if Dual Intel chips would suffer the same problem? Could be intertesting, given the Intel based macs, then again, different OS running on those, so not a real test.

Just had a quick search and found this. I have not read it all, but it mentions iTunes encoding, and does not say anything about a crash.

I'm not the only one to experience this. For example..

http://forums.amd.com/lofiversion/index.php/t63622.html

I've seen it mentioned in a few other places as well. It can be gotten around by limiting it to single processor mode via task manager, but it's a bit of a bodge...
