Default CPU Usage 100%

This is driving me bonkers

My System is as follows Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHZ 512mb ram & the usual gumph

Now i checked on the system performance as its running mega slow & the CPU usage is sitting at 100& & as i type this message i have to wait a few seconds for it too catch up

I only run Champ Manager & Limewire constantly though these are turned off at the moment

Any ideas on what to do ???

Cheers

Stephen

Press Ctrl Alt Del and look at the Processes tab. Scroll down the list and see what process is showing 100%.

Post your result here.

If you are on XP, right-click the task bar and select "Task Manager". Select the "Processes" tab, and note which Image Name has the highest CPU figure (you can sort by clicking the column title).

Post the results here!

System idle process will always show near 100%, because your system is near idle

A 2 second search on google provides a multitude of answers.

For example...

Apparently that may be a problem with Belkin wireless products. From what I have read, you can simply disable that service in your startup list.

Go to Run and type 'msconfig' and see if that program is in the startup list. If it is, disable it. You can always re-enable it if needed.

To see whats really running on your system, and what is potentially dangerous.......

Download Security Task Manager

Its a great app that shows whats going on in there. You can download the limited version, but it will show you what you need to see, and very clearly.

I bought the program, because it is so good.
