Good on you. I did exactly the same this weekend. Sick of companies taking the michael. Your CV reflects where I want to be in the next couple of years in terms of your skills. You have some great skills and the market definitley seems good at the moment.

All the best and let us know how you get on!

Best of luck with the search David.

I can't imagine you will have any problems with a CV and skills like that.

Your CV is almost identical to mine, well the difference is my lack of skills compared to yours

I started at 16 straight from school and feel I know considerably more than some MCSE's or Uni leavers.

David,

Yep no problems with your skillset, good on ya. I resigned a couple of weeks ago as one of the founding directors of a company I worked at for 2 1/2 years which is doing ok but not great. Spent the first week thinking I had made a big mistake but now know in my heart of hearts it wasnt going to be what I wanted. The contract market is reasonably buoyant, obviously slowing for xmas but theres plenty of opps out there.
Go for it

That wouldn't be hard, Most Uni leavers and MCSE's are useless.

I haven’t pursued any recent certification, as they would not have helped me in my current role, as we don’t look to employ MCSE accredited people. I would however say I have MCSE Equivalent knowledge in NT4, 2000 & 2003
I'm not disputing the fact that you have the equivalent knowledge of an MCSE but the above isn't good to put on your CV. What kind of company are you working for if they do not look to employ MCSE qualified people?

Employers are looking for self motivated people who can manage their career progression by taking exams. I mean seriously, how difficult would it be for you to pass a few MCP's with your skills? I'd say, spend £50 and pass at least one exam just to show that you have what it takes on *paper* before going for any job interviews.
Good luck though, I'm sure you will not need it.

I've passed an MCP in 1995 and have the article to say I was the youngest in europe iirc..

If I can pass an MCP at 15, Id guess im capable now. The company would pay for certification, however it was very hard to try and justify time. On the job experience and enterprise experience counts for a lot more with my current employer.

We have MCSE's that we will not give domain admin rights to, let alone enterprise admin rights.

I have a technical design position coming up in Edinburgh starting first week in January. Contract, 3 months minimum, equivalent 60k+ permie. C.V.s to graemeburn@mail.com (replace the "mail" with gmail) 2000/2003/XP Registry/Kix/Group Policy to a high level. Paper MCSE's need not apply!
Think I'll post this in the Scottish forum too.
