Call of Duty 2 crashes
I've just installed CoD2 and when starting the first mission, it shows the Russian loading screen, gets to about ~40% on the progress bar, makes a noise and eventually crashes.
It 'seems' to be a DX9 related problem, as I seem to be able to run the game in DX 7 mode.
Anyone come across this themselves?

Runs butter smooth in DX9 mode for me on the following......
A64 3000 @ 2400
Abit AV8
ATi X800 Pro flashed to XT PE
1gb Ballistix
SB Audigy 2
Can I make a couple of suggestions....
If you have not already done this, set 'Optimize for SLI' to 'Yes' in the options menu. This actually improves performance on single card setups. Weird, but it works!!
Also, if you have a Creative card installed, be sure to disable the CThelper service. It has been known to cause all sorts of problems with lots of games. This can be done in msconfig (type msconfig in the run command and remove CThelper from the startup list)
Hope this helps a little.

Have you installed the latest drivers? There was issues with the latest Nvidia drivers and CoD2 and they issued a beta release which cured the problems I wasz having.
Run in DX7 here too, get framerates around 80-90 instead of 20-30 with DX9.
