Migration from Windows 2000 server to 2003 server
Anyone got any top sites / tips for a migration from Windows 2000 to 2003 ?
Starting afresh on a new server , want all the previous AD contact / OU's etc and permissions to move over.
Any helpful hints ? Tips ?
Cheers guys ( and gals )

Deploy the new server into the domain, update the AD for 2003 and then tranfers the FSMO roles etc across then downgrade the old server and voila
check out microsoft articles on there site

Forestprep in root domain
Domainprep in each domain in the forest
Install 2003 as a member server
DCPROMO on 2003 member server
DCPROMO to remove any 2000 DCs (then dispose of or upgrade to 2003 as needed)
Easy.

If you are using the server for apps:
One thing of note we found was that any applications running on the server that used the CDONTS object had to be re-written as CDONTS was replaced by CDO between 2000 and 2003
I Shudder just remembering going through 250 meg of code!!

do as garyscoobncbr says imho.
Just done a migration to ad currently at around 12,000 users and a fair few servers, - circa 400 at a guess.
