Question Computer Boffin needed

started up the computer and all the icons etc on the desk top appear very large. Restarted and a little blue box came up with not supported written in it. Restarted the computer pressed F8 scrolled down to last known configurations, computer restarts still the same, have altared icon size etc but this doesnt seem right.

It happened once before and cant remember how I sorted it, can anyone help please???

Is it just the screen resolution?

Right click on the desktop and check your display properties.

you may be putting the res too high or is the refesh rate too high for what your monitor can do, put it to 60Hz for now to be on the safe side. Click the advanced tab to get to the refesh rate of your monitor

unless youve checked use large icons in the options. right click on desktop and click properties then in the appearance tab and advanced there is a tickbox "use large icons", you may need to untick that

Have you tried reinstalling graphics and / or monitor drivers?

I'd not say that's drastic action, but might be worth a try.
