Excel spreadsheet password remover
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows where I could aquire a *free* remover to remove a pw from a spreadsheet i need to open.

Remove or crack?
Chances are you can't actually remove the password, but there are programs that can crack the password. Our guys at work use the Advanced Office Password Recovery program from Elcomsoft. The personal version, that will crack Excel files is $49. The techie guys say this is a very good progam.
No doubt, if you look in the darker recesses of the web you may find free programs that can do this. However, be careful, as they are often designed to entice casual users to download the programs and in the process download all kinds of nasty stuff - some of which will not be detected by your AV software.
Your choice....

if it's a 16 char long passwd and "not a word" you are pretty much buggered - even with software.
Your only realistic hope is that they are using an unpatched version of excel. . . if they are, you can open it with sun's openoffice www.openoffice.org
