Default Hard Drive Question

Probably a simple answer to this, but, I have a SATA hard drive in my new build, but have already filled up the 160gb. My old pc still has a 80gb IDE drive, can I put this in my new PC and run it as a secondary drive, or will I need to buy another SATA?

Sorry for my ignorance!!

If the new Motherboard has a regular ATA port then yes, you'll be able to pop your ATA IDE drive in there. If it doesn't then you'll need another SATA drive.

Don't see a problem with what you want to do.Just make sure your IDE chanels are switchedon in the BIOS and that the drive can be seen on bootup. I take it you are planning on formatting the 80GB IDE drive before using it.

Will have to check the motherboard first, pretty sure it has connectors for both. Was planning to format the drive after installing it, as the old PC has been cannibalised to much! Presume if I set up the bios to read my SATA drive first, then the other drive can be worked on once booted?
