Default SMTP errors.

Hi all,

Got a problem trying to convince my manager that the issue we have is NOT our system.

Basically there is a company that when we send them a mail we get a postmaster reply saying:

Delivery failed
552 Requested mail action aborted: exceeded storage allocation

Sent: .
Received:552 Requested mail action aborted: exceeded storage allocation

Now this error only happens with one remote domain on a different mail system.

Now we have loads of storage and dont set qoutas (GroupWise 6.5) but they insist its us.

Now if I sent a hotmail mail, it goes through fine.

Im sure its not our system but how can I confirm ?

That error is a reply code i.e. it's their reply to your DATA command.

How big is the e-mail when the code is generated?
What type of system hosts their domain?
Do they limit anything on their side? e.g. mailbox, smtp mail via some gateway or firewall?

This may be of some help if they run Exchange - http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=885419

Cool

Try doing a manual SMTP send - info on how to is at http://www.spamsoap.com/resources/sm...al_testing.htm.

If that errors it's their problem....

Don't forget to do the Telnet test from your outbound mail server
