Just in case anyone has this problem
I have now fixed two TFT monitors with 'dead' pixels by poking the pixels several times until they came back on.
Seriously.

My fingers, not the nail part obviously.
I actually overheard it the other day, and had two lying about with little green lighted pixels and i gave it a go, after several compressions , they were gone.
