Default American PSP

hi guys
Been offered for sale an american psp for pretty good price

Are they much different to one I'd buy in the shops here ?

I presume there'd be a region issue for starters ?

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

Niall

only region issue is on UMD movies. other than that it's the same machine as the uk.

power supply is a worldwide type so you only need the uk plug type lead.

In addition to the DVD & power plug issue, US PSPs *may* also have an issue signing up for online game playing. Sony have been pretty tough on "grey" imports, so expect them to do some sneaky stuff on purpose.

Why not just buy a UK model?

Not at the moment, but the technology is in the machine to region lock games as well so I wouldn't like to say for sure that it will always be ok...

US Games wont work with the UK games via the link-up other than that don't think there's any issues with online gaming.

I bought a Jap one because it's supposed to have a better TFT screen (Sharp) as opposed to the UK/USA Samsung screen.
Have to say the screen is superb (and no dead pixels), but I haven't seen any other PSPs to compare it with.
Also, it's white - looks really cool
Got it on Ebay for £175 delivered - plenty on there.

I've got a UK one, and a mate has a Jap one, (which he paid over the odds for when they were first launched in Japan). Put them side by side and neither of us can see any differences in the screen quality. The only difference we can see is that his Jap one has more dead pixels than my uk one

I think the myth about the jap ones having a better screen is a bit of an urban legend to be honest...
