Default How do I?.......

turn off the modem 'sound'? When connect to the internet (dial up) I get a nasty phone/tone sound coming from my computer. Is there any way of turning this sound down or off?

Thanks

Or if an internal MODEM. Then right click 'My Computer', Left click properties, left click Hardware Tab, then click on Device Manager button, From the device tree expand the MODEM (Click + next to it), right click on the MODEM icon now shown, then left click the tabs shown and you will see a volume control slider, simply set it to low.

Find the field in the modem settings called "initialisation string" and put "m0" in it (exclude the quotes.
