Hi, can someone remind me what settings I should have for setting my email add up with w98 / outlook express 5 when using pipex broadband ??

have three boxes to fill in

1/ my incomming mail server is a ??
2/ outgoing mail server ?? ( pop 3, impa, http )
3/ incomming mail server ??

bit confused if anyone can help me out ??!!

Help, have tried the above settings but keeps failing to reach my email account.

the first box gives a choice off : pop3 / imap / http - choose pop3

second box " incomming mail ( pop3 , impa or http ) server " put in smtp.dsl.pipex.com like you advised.

third box " outgoing mail ( smtp ) server put in "pop.dsl.pipex.com"

what am I doing wrong ??!! any ideas ??

is your username and password correct?
can you ping both of these servers?

 

Yep mate username and password okay,

not sure what you mean by can I ping both servers ??

will keep on trying !!!

 

go to dos/cmd prompt.
type "ping pop.dsl.pipex.com" and "ping smtp.dsl.pipex.com"
should get a reply from both.

got any firewall software stopping your email program.
