Ipod question - Organising tunes
One for the Ipod gurus...!
I have just copied a couple of compilation albums to my 20GB Ipod. ( about 80 tracks )
Now when I'm browsing Artists on the Ipod it is listing all the 80 individual artists from the compilation album. This now makes finding an artist a long tedious task as my Artisu list is now hooooge....
Is there a way to not list artists from a compilation album on the Ipod ! I'm guessing not but figured I would ask the question anyway ! Altenatively how do all you peeps keep yours organised....!
Hope that makes sense :0/
Cheers in advance

Preferences -> General -> Group compilations when browsing
Not sure if that will do what you want in iTunes or on the iPod.
I don't think you've got complete control over what the artist list on the iPod shows I don't think smart playlists would allow you to setup what you want either. Well, not on the iPod. Maybe if the iPod properly supported iTunes 5's folder option (allowing a folder to contain playlists and folders, ipod simply flatens the structure on a big playlist, really not at all useful) then you might be able to setup an "artist" folder which could be comprised of smart playlists. This might allow the level of control you want.

Do as Markus says and enable the compilations in iTunes then on your iPod go
Settings > Compilations and toggle on. That should do what you want.
Settings > Compilations and toggle on. That should do what you want.

Just looking into the above and the Settings > Compilations option is only available on the Ipod photo at the moment
Looks like I will have to wait for Apple to add it to an update for the earlier 4G model...if they ever do....
