I had a unix box running squid with a big list of controlled sites.
Monitoring client usage & blocking / reporting strange sites.
I could have set it up to only allow predefined sites & block all others - but that wasn't really suitable for my enviroment.

We use Surf Control extensively now. While there are LOTS of teething problems with it - the package itself and the filtering achieveable is very good.
P.O.P. to set up - the guys from Foursys who installed it ran out of time and left us to it. I kinda winged it and had filtering in place within a couple of hours (based on the old Websense categories)
Using Websense for another customer and of the two, I'd go with Surf Control (mainly 'cos Websense is being a royal pain in the butt with ISA 2004 at the moment)
