working on a website that includes a parts search facility. for this i require a database of all makes and models, bit like autotrader use etc.

any ideas where i can download an upto date listing to import into the database?

Wikipedia pretty much has it covered. I don't know how reliable the information is, but almost every car ever made has a page. Try Vehicle make and model database, you should be able to find all the info you need under its car section. I don't think you can download the data for importing into a table, however.

 

^^ That API looks alright and pretty cheap too. Let someone else host it for you

 

Here you go, needs a small amount of work to import to SQL table, easy stuff though. Not sure how frequenltly updates are published.

A google search led me here after searching for something similar. I'm currently building a website for an insurance firm and needed a database of vehicle makes and models. I'm using Car Makes and Models database/ but wondering if anybody has a solution for international vehicles - not just UK?
