Default Need some decent backup software to record to DVDs

I need a little help in finding some software that can record to DVDs. My requirements seem to be quite unusual (god knows why?), so please ensure that any recommendations fit the bill.

I have now tried just over 20 pieces of software, none of them hitting the mark, although a few did pretend that they would.

  • Needs to be able to record to DVD-RWs
  • Needs to be able to span several discs in one backup set
  • Needs to be able to do incremental backups with a backup set that has spanned several discs
  • Has to be able to the verify the backup
  • Needs to be able to handle damaged media (ie, if it detects an error, it allows you to insert a different disc to re-write that part of the backup set. My current software just cancelts the whole process - which may have taken 4 hours )
  • Will preferably write directly to the DVD, and not need some sort of packet writing software installed like InCD (something that can cause conflicts with other software)
  • Will remember what files have been stored on the DVDs so that I can search for a file without having to put all the discs into my machine
The best that I have come across is Stomp's Backup MYPC. I have two problems with this software. It seems to find errors on discs when they are not there (Nero can write and verfiy to the discs with no problems). It cancels the whole backup job on an error without allowing you to use an alternative disc.

This is maddening, as it does not check the discs until the whole set has been written. If you have just spent the last 3 hours writing the set you will know just how mad it makes you feel when you lose all that time

I have other backup arrangements in place, but I do NEED to do these backups to DVD. So tapes, externall HDDs, NAS etc are not an option in this case.

Many thanks for any options.

Currenlty I am looking a Roxio's Backup MyPc. But there is no trial version so I have no idea if it does what it claims to be able to
