auto fill in excess
Hi
I want a column of dates. Rather than write the date of every Saturday this year i want it to be put in automatically but in the auto fill options box it gives a choice of days, weekdays, months and years , but not weekly. i can do it like these options say ie every day or month but i want every 7 days. Is there any simple way of automatically filling in the date of each Saturday. i am no good at this, just learning as i go along

Is this Excel? Can't you just populate the top two columns with two days 7 days apart (to give it something to take a reference from), copy both of those cells, then highlight the rows in the column you want filled and just 'paste'?

Enter two "saturdays" in the top two cells of your column (you may want to set the format to be your preferred date first, rather than general), e.g.
06-Aug-2005
13-Aug-2005
...then shift-select both cells, and position your cursor over the dot in the bottom right-hand corner of the pair (the cursor should become a "+" type cross). Then click and drag down along the column as far as required.
This should auto-fill in the dates, at the interval specified by the first pair.
