Default need help settinog up surround sound

thats the one i have and i hooked it up plugged everything in, matched the colours and re-installed my audio drivers in my abit AN7 mobo but it is only showing that sound i coming from 2 speakers and the sub works. why am i only getting sound from two speakers? should i buy an aftermarket sound card?

are you sure your M board supports 5.1 sound?
If so have you also set up the speakers for 5.1 in control panel.
Default setup is normally 2 speakers so you have to change it

my mobo supports 6.1 surround it says so o the box and has the corresponding plugs in the back. i have changed it to 5.1 as well and hwn i do the test it does all the speakers excepft for rear left and centre.

another possibility i can think of have you activated the volume for the rear channel.
its possible it could be very low or on mute.

well, there are 2 controls one on a speaker and one the the sub both are full.

try

start--> control panel --> Sound and Audio Device --> Volume --> Advanced --> check it is on 5.1 surround

yeh it is, in the speaker settings. the advanced for device takes me to the normal controls for audio.
