Question Connecting 2 pcs with a router

We have a laptop and a desktop pc. The laptop currently has a 2mb bb connection and the desktop isnt connected. How do we go about setting them up to share the connection?

the 2 meg connection (phone cable) would plus straight into the router and the 2 pc's would plug into the router via network cables or wireless. If you can use network cables then use them as they are 100% reliable where wireless can bring problems, it depends on whats more practical to be honest. If the PC's wont be moving much and wiring them up will be easy, defo go for network cables. Using a router in the NAT mode which you will probably be using (sharing one internet connection (IP address between 2 pc's) also provides a great level of security as the router in effect isolates the computers from the internet

I use a netgear DG632 which was £35 from Amazon. It has an ethernet port for one PC and a USB port for the other. It is an ADSL broadband router with built in firewall and despite the price isnt half bad. You can always plug a switch/hub into the ethernet connection and attach a wireless AP if you want to expand the network in the future.
