Default Wireless Router and Laptop Card query

Just joined UKOnline as my ISP. Using their 512kbps broadband service for £9.99.

I want to go wireless. I have a HP Laptop and I was thinking of getting a Belkin ASDL Modem with a built in 802.11g wireless router. However there is a new Belkin Router ASDL2+ Router which is high speed, which apparently 35% faster than standard 802.11g.

Will it have that much of a effect, especially if I am using 512k broadband?

Same goes with the card one is standard and one is Belkin Hi-Speed Mode Wireless G Notebook Network Card.

Again any difference, or will it be a waste of money.

Thanks

Jay

IMHO unless you are looking at shifting a lot of large files around a network, you will not really see or benefit from the extra speed.

I use a Belkin ADSL Modem/Router and a Belkin Laptop card and it is more than fast enough. The belkin stuff is really easy to set up. You will be up and running in about 10 minutes. One of the best products for dpeed as well.

Stick with the 54g kit. Cheaper and a lot less hassle

Forgot to mention...Belkin also have a freephone help line. Considering the helpdesk is in Calfornia, this is a huge bonus. They have helped me out a couple of times, and they know their stuff. Didn't try to fob me off with a load of rubbish!
