Default Pioneer 105 DVD fubared?

Just recently my Pioneer 105 DVD writer seems to have given up the ghost. I'm using exactly the same media as always but every time I try and burn it fails and gives the error "power calibration error".

I have tried switching jumpers, IDE positions, power cables, everything but no joy.

Interestingly if I take my Pioneer 109 out of my other PC and put it in, the same thing happens but the 109 works fine on the other computer!

I'm at a loss now!

David

Edited to say I have also formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows xp - still nothing.

I'm only guessing but it could be that your pc power supply is faulty/not producing enough juice ?

Are you absolutely sure it's not the media, I have been using the same media and suddenly half way through a pack of 100 I had 5 or 6 that would not work !

Have you tried the 105 in the other pc that you have your 109 in?
I would also suggest trying a new PSU

Had the 105, and encoutnered the same problem, but then mine also gave up reading DVD discs and would only read & Write CD media. Tried different DVD media as well.
Have you tried flashing the drive with the latest Firmware?
Just for the record now replaced with a Pioneer 108 and this works fine in the same PC.
