brand new IT networks
need a bit of brainstorm here.
currently, our IT dept look after UK, India and Tokyo. all the builds and updates are from US. we now want to go along and do our own.
what would be best in terms of software deployment, user's profiles, patching, software updates, etc. we got lots of laptop users as well and their laptops keep getting out of date.
anyone use ardence, SoftGrid, altiris? anymore similar stuff?

Are they going to allow you to do this?
Look at Microsoft SMS, Ghost, Altiris.
Find out what they currently use as the machines should have CAL's for whatever they use.
Find out what software is common across machines and create a std build based on that, should have AV software, all fixes to date etc etc.. Then work out how you want to autojoin the domain, naming machines etc.. and read up on sysprep and duplicate sid's and guid's
