Problem with a 3Com Gig E Fibre switch
Hi peeps,
Hopefully just a quick one,
Basically we bought a new 3Com Switch 3824 to complement our Gig E backbone fibre Switch 4900 SX. Now the problem is the fibre from the 4900 to the 3824. We bought a fibre plugin module for the 3824 ( a 3CSFP91 SFP transceiver 1000-SX)
Now both switches are configured with reasonable settings but no matter what we do we cannot get the fibre to light. Does anyone know of any incompatabilities in this setup ?
Cheers

Assuming both fibre moduled are SX and the fibre is less than 800m (62.5/125um) it should work.
Possible things to check: -
Make sure fibre modules are fully seated
Replace patch leads
Test fibre
If the fibre is quite old (5 years +) you may not get a GB transmission more than say 150m
