What OS are you using? Windows XP?
What sort of keyboard do you have. Is it a none standard keyboard that you have installed some software for? Something like a fancy Logitech one that has its own program to control the settings?
I'm pretty sure the answer is going to be in some form of regional settings, the question is which ones....as there are several....
If you have installed extra software, open that up and make sure if there are any regional settings you change it to UK
Then go into Start > Control Panel > Regional Settings (I know you have been here before). On the first screen make sure it says English (UK), the UK part is important. Underneath that there are some "samples" See if the currency one is showing pounds (if not you can change this in advanced at the bottom)
Now click in advanced at the top tab, make sure that this is also set to English (UK)
In the Date and Time area there is the option to set your clock to GMT, which should already have been done.
You may also want to check in your BIOS to see if you have specified a keyboard layout. Windows normally overrides the BIOS specification, but it is possible that this is ont working right. As standard this is usually set to US, and the problems you are having are normally experienced by all computers when someone boots into DOS using a floppy when this has not been changed.
Please go through all of the above carefully, then post back. I apologise if any of those steps have already been carried out, but its nice to know exactly where you stand. If it is still not working right, I will have to have another think.
