streaming video over wifi
What's the minimum speed required to stream video over a wifi network?
Is standard 'g' sufficient or would a 'turbo g' router be required?
This would be video recorded on a TV card.

I stream live tv in 800x600 across my wi-fi into the kitchen etc (only 50% signal down there) on a wireless-g, running windows media encoder - and it's perfectly fine to watch. Not DVD quality tho

Faster the better. If there's loads going on (explosion over water for instance) where everything is moving on screen my 11Mbps network really struggles.

It will totally depend on the settings you use when recording the video, will it be uncompressed or compressed, compressed with what coded? bitrate used etc etc.
You might get away with 'b' but to be on the safe side id say 'g' at 54Mbit/s would be plenty.

Thanks for the advice. Seems like standard 802.11g should be okay then.
I don't know about the compression settings, bit rates, etc., but can check.
I want to set up a wifi network, and I want to make sure that whatever I buy, will be suitable for streaming TV recorded on my PC, to a media centre extender connected to my TV.
Since the Xbox 360 is supposed to double as a Media Centre Extender, I thought it might be a good opportunity to buy one!
I don't want to have to update my wifi kit within one year or less.
