Default Best tool for getting a file back off a formatted drive

Only windows has been put on.

Need to retreive a .pst (forgot it was a reps laptop not an office machine, so no exchange ).

Ontrack Easy Recovery Pro is what you need.I recovered 10+ gb previous data from a formatted hard disk.You just need to be lucky and hope that if you've reinstalled the machine that no data has been written to the sectors where your pst file was stored

Another option would be EnCase. Same as what the plod use for forensic examination.

Downloading now... was trying to use the "lite" version before I posted this (in fixit tools 4) but it was pants.
