Default Microsoft Volume Licensing (Open License?)

Okay, there seems to be quite a few professionals around here so and completley new to this.......

I have a small company that deals mainly with (primary) schools. We provide IT services, equipment, training and support etc.

Is it possible to setup up an open license agreement so that we can purchase MS licenses at a discount....to install on the machines we sell (Mainly XP Pro with some Win2000/win2003 fileservers)

Anybody done this?

You should already be signed up for this?

http://www.microsoft.com/oem/default.mspx

£199 a year gets you £'000's worth of OEM software (to keep you legal), and access to all the resources & incentives MS have to offer.

Paul,

Does OEM SB allow use of the software Production or is it the same as MSDN, development and testing only?

That stuff is strictly for testing only. MS would chop yer goolies off if they found it in non test channels. Mind you the 10 copies of XP and office with all the trimmings and server os' is quite cool

MS do special pricing for educational, when I was working in a university, we never bought licences and everything came through the special deal.
I'd be surprised if the local LEA hasn't got details for it.

Even if you register as a system builder, you have to get the software from a distributor.

And as above, OEM and Direct Action pack are internal, not for resale only.
(but damn handy if you get one )

As Hank says, there may be a local deal already in place.

MS do offer academic / charity pricing on the MOLP scheme but you have to register and hence jump through a few hoops.

Cheers.

There IS a deal in place with the LEA - which is where the schools get their MS Office licenses from.

Thre trouble comes when they ask us to install....and we don't have the CD-Keys etc - the LEA are a bit reluctant to hand them out.
