Default Linux help needed

Ive been trying to install SimplyMepis on an old computer (windows 98) today.

I downloaded SimplyMEPIS 2004 from the mepis website then created a bootable CD using BurnAtOnce. I went into the BIOS and set it to boot from the CD drive first. Then restarted it with the CD in, it said:

Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM

Loading Stage2 .

and then it freezes.

What am I doing wrong?

Just done the Redhat Linux "Technician" exam (but failed) so can't help ~ LOL

Just guessing, but is all the hardware you have supported by the OS ?

Dumb question: is the HDD light flickering? This stage of some Linux distros can take over ten minutes, with the screen apparantly frozen. Otherwise it looks like you need to try burning the disk again.
