Default Need a fanless DVI graphics card

Just built a Shuttle SN95G5 (Athlon socket 939 Winchester 3000, 160Gb disc, 1Gb RAM and a Pioneer 108) - very impressive from looks and performance.

But I want it to be as quiet as possible. I reused my 9550 graphics card but it's got a fan on it that makes about three times the noise of the rest of the Shuttle put together

I'm also using the DVI output to my new 19" Digimate 1916 TFT - also v.impressive now i've adjusted it the contrast and gamma to make it look a little less harsh than default

So, I need a fanless DVI card. I'm not particularly into games, but do play occasionally. I want a card that roughly matches the spec of rest of the machine - looking to spend £100 maybe?

Ideas?
TIA, Martin

PS the card sits very close to the side of the case - so it has to be pretty close to 'standard height' i.e. it can't have a great big double height heatsink on it

Hmm will that fit in the shuttle though?

Can get ATI9200/nvidia 5200 with n ofan easily, but they won't be great for any games

Thanks for the lead...a bit more investigation turned up this

...so it looks like it does fit (just), but stops you using the adjacent PCI slot - I didn't know I had to mention that requirement

The ATI 9250 is pretty compact and comes in both 128MB and 256MB (gamers edition) form.

The 256card is about £50, similar dimensions to the 9200SE and uses quite a compact heatsink.

AFIAK the 9250 doesn't support DirectX 9.0c (a requirement for the kids playing The Sims 2)- or does it?

More info on the Gigabyte cards here. Looks like there is an ATI X800XL card (GV-R80L256V) on the way which would be my choice

Have the same prob with my Shuttle - the Radeon fan is so noisy. I stopped it turning for a few seconds to see how hot it gets and the heatsink got really hot straight away displaying a Word doc!

Did you see any fanless cards out there? I havent had time to play a game in 6 months so the noisy card is probably overkill for browsing, editing, Excel & Word ...

Currently homing in on a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT Ultimate 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP)

...as shown on:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...00_Series.html

But I can't get a definitive answer on whether it blocks the PCI slot

Review here and it says;

It's big, but doesn't intrude into the neighboring PCI slot on the motherboard

Another review confirms this;

Unlike the much larger Zalman heatpipe used on the 9800 Pro Ultimate Edition however, this heatpipe is small enough to keep the card in the "single-slot" category.

So I got my Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT Ultimate 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP) this morning:
- it fits in the Shuttle
- the overall noise level is significantly lower and well acceptable now
- the case still fits
- although I haven't got a PCI card to hand, I don't think there is enough room to use the PCI slot - but with the features and connectivity of the SN95G5, I can't currently see why I would need it anyway
