DVD Writer question
Hi
Been offered one of these cheap, was wondering if anyone has any opinions on it? http://www.nec.co.uk/DVDRW_ND2500.aspx
The only downside I can see is that it's not dual layer, how relevant is this?
Cheers

I have one of these - silver one I paid about £80 for about 14 months ago.
Would say it's great, but it's just died on me last week Won't finalise CDs any more.
When it's been working it's been fine and dandy. Well built drive and very quiet.

If you want a cheap DVD writer, http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product....roduct_id=1274 are selling black Pioneer 108's for £29.99
You can get a Pioneer 109 for £39.99 here; http://www.diskdepot.co.uk/acatalog/Special_Offers.html
Both support dual layer burning.
The 108 will support true 16x burning with the latest firmware upgrade.

Im in a similar boat- I need a new DVD drive...
Any recommendations for the best quailty burner under £100?
(DL options are fine)
I burn quite few discs.. and stability/quality is more important saving a few bob only to have to replace the bugger 6 months later (again- )

Dome, ok but be aware, firstly the firmware upgrade may go wrong, and will leave you with an unuseable drive i.e a powercut or user error And 2. Its takes a long time to burn a full DL disc, compared to a newer model. However if u want to save a few quid its an excellent way to get a DL drive for peanuts PM me your email addy, and I'll send you files needed to flash it. Its simple to do.
