Default How to repair a damaged user profile in Win2K???

I have a problem accessing secure sites using IE6 and Win2K workstation. I've checked all the settings and everything appears to be okay but obviously it's not.

I then set up a new user and hey presto! it works...problem is, I lose all the settings that I had for the previous account (desktop, application data etc. etc.)

Does anyone know how to repair the damaged profile? I've tried searching on Google for the answer but haven't had any success

Is the prof local or roaming ? If roaming can you not get it back from a previous date backup ?
If local why can you just not re-create, may be quicker in long run.

The issue may be down to group policies being applied !!
not enough info, so diff to help much.

Thanks for the reply Foot Tapper. It's a local profile (on my home machine, not connected to any LAN) so I think you are probably right, just bite the bullet and create a new one.
