Playing UK games on a USA PS2
I sent a UK PAL PS2 game to a guy in the States, after having first checked that he could run it on his US PS2.
Turns out his mate told him it would be okay, but it isn't.
Does anyone know if it is possible to run PAL games on US PS2s? If so, how can he convert his US PS2 to run the PAL game?
TIA

..or, if he is up to it, create an ISO of the disc, copy to a hard drive (using winhiip or similar), fit HDD in PS2 (using bb adapter, assuming old style large PS2) and use some form of loader software to run it.

He will have to chip his PS2, but this is only half the story.
Wheras virtually all kit sold in the UK is capable of dealing with NTSC screen resolutions (your UK PS2 will be encoding the colour in PAL but using the NTSC screen size and framerate, often called Pseudo PAL or PAL60) the reverse is not true for the US where PAL is a rarely encountered oddity, most US PS2s get chipped so they can play Japanese games and the Japanese use NTSC anyway.
I have an old Toshiba TV that lists NTSC50 (eww) as a supported format in the manual, but I have never encountered another device that can support it.
Did the game in question have an option of using "60Hz mode" or similar, as that will solve the problem.
