Nintendo DS
bought my 2 sons one for easter (to try and avoid stuffing them full of choc), and it arrived today (launch day) so thought I'd have a quick play with it, now they're in bed.
Had a GBA then GBA-SP, so kinda knew what to expect. But really suprised at quite how much better than it is - played the demo of Metroid Prime Hunters and the touch screen with stylus works really well with the Halo like controls, easy aiming, firing and trackig around the screen. The dual screen seems very natural after playing for just a few minutes. The graphics are ultra smooth (as expected) though still a little pixelated in some areas.
Sound wise, even on max volume its fairly quiet, but this is the only real gripe so far.
Got Maria DS arriving anyday soon.
Can see myself spending as much time as my 2 sons on it - great having kids eh!
Not played or seen the PSP yet, so cant make any comparisons there, but at £99 the DS is an absolute bargain.

NeilT,
The PSP blows the DS in to the weeds mate.
Unfortunately the PSP is in a different league altogether...... personally I think the PSP is the best thing that has hit the gaming market since the launch of the PS many moons ago.
The power of a PS2 compared to the power of a N64.... Mmmmmmm, tough one that!
I hope your kids get the present instead of you keeping hold of it!!!!
Regards,
Shaun.

saw one of these yesterday.
looks great and i'm told it got wi-fi built in for gaming with another DS and for general chat.
also got a stylus for writing for the chat side of it.
just under £100 ? and the games are compatible with the gamecube iirc ?
looked a very neat little unit and going to be popular as its far cheaper than the psp ?
