Laptop / Desktop wifi - help needed

Default Laptop / Desktop wifi - help needed

Just bought a PBell laptop with 802.11b so bought a 802.11g usb stick for the desktop, used cable before but cant get any joy out of either laptop or desktop

any ideas?

managed a connection (ethernet uninstall / reinstall !)

cant get either to show up on both laptop and desktop (in workgroup computers)
so cant file share or net share, tried setting up new network and disabled firewalls, nowt down

any ideas again

you need to switch both pc's on, then run network setup on each pc in turn............

after completing both....... restart the pc's..........

go into explorer and network places.......

initially you will only see the shared folder of the 'other' pc , until you make the folders you want shared.......

by right clicking, properties... then sharing&security.......

it should update automatically....... may take a few seconds to show up ( or a refresh of the window
...

tried that, and again, and again
tried ip numbers

they connect but cant see any computers

tried creating the network setup disk.... and uding that on the other pc ??

instead of running the setup sepeartely??

Firewall, try disabling on both pcs and see if you can get a connection then take it from there.
