Default Problem with running HP 2610 printer/scanner/fax/copier

Just bought a HP Photosmart 2610 printer/scanner/fax/copier and my dated Toshiba Satellite Pro 4280 Pentium III laptop is having trouble running it, with the HP software installed the Laptop is impossibly slow/unusable.

The Toshiba laptop has 64 Mb of RAM and is running at 497 MHz, the HP specsheet says it requires 500 MHz with a recommended 110 Mb of RAM. Now being clueless about this is it a simple case of installing more memory for the Laptop or will this still give problems running the HP due to being marginal on processing capability??

If it is a simple case of adding more memory is this easiily done and what is the approximate cost??

Many thanks in advance...
Ian

I know it's not much help but I steered away from buying a HP PSC after reading all sorts of bad reviews saying how the drivers slowed down the PC a lot and that the standard software install was nearly 1 GB. I think it may be a bit much for your laptop.

Bought an Epson RX620 instead, I'm well pleased with it.
