anyone got any good info?
from what i gather
1968: Bob Karn’s team at BBN builds first Interface Message Processor (IMP) later known as a “router”.
70's few extremes considered
Static routing
Quasi static routing
Dymanic routing
Hot potatoe passing..
1983: UC Berkeley and BBN integrate TCP/IP into UNIX 4.2 BSD. Berkeley develops network utilities and sockets API.
Mid 80s saw commerical popularity
2000 Layer 4 switching.
Can anyone confirm of add to this?

1962 - Paul Baran of RAND develops the idea of distributed, packet-switching networks.
look into ARPANET and the history of the Internet. You're looking at late-50's, early 60's for "networks" developed at MIT.
As to confirming the history, that's a bit of an effort to be honest.
