Default Conversion of video for use on PSP

From all I can gather on the net, you have to use 3 bits of software to get a Dvd converted. First dvddecrypter to get a .vob file from the disk, then Auto Gordian Knot to turn it into a .avi file, then Image converter 2.1 or 3gp to make it an MP4. Surely there is a more direct way than this, even if you have to buy some software ? I just cannot be bothered to go through this on a regular basis !!

Can anybody advise ? Is there any software that takes files off a Dvd and turns them into mp4 ?

there are loads of apps that convert DVD to avi or mpeg. can't remember any names off the top of my head but a quick google should sort that.

The one I use is dvdtoavi or something along those lines

and you'll have to use the 3gp or imageconvertor to get the filenames correct so the PSP can use them. It's not as simple as producing an mp4

Yes

Try SmartMovie

I can convert DVDs to My P910 Ericsson and can watch full length films while at work. It rocks

So, you can cut out one phase but you still need to use the 2nd conversion software due to it being for the PSP ?

Or, can Smartmovie make it straight into a mp4 and then you just save it to a file name that the psp understands ?
