Question Windows Server spec questions

I need to get a server installed to do the following:

Host Access database (soon to be converted from Access to SQL)
Provide network storage of around 500GB (maybe more)
Allow users to send/receive email and ideally hotswap desks.
Provide a 'network wide' jobs list type board
Maybe attach an existing tape drive to it but not essential
currently less than 10 users on the network.
Network virus checking/config would be an advantage

The two primary uses are currently Access Database (becoming very flaky) and Photoshop across the gig network...

Currently looking at servers from Dell but when speccing them up, adding 300gb disks seems to be quite expensive...

Any tips on machine types/models and software packages?

Cheers,
Rich

Indeed Dell are not cheap. But the speed and reliablity u get from one of their servers with raid 5.. and the support they have its probably worth it, if wot ur doing is company critical.

300GB SCSI HDs will be expensive, no matter where you buy them from. 500GB is a lot of data for 10 users IMO. Things like "Allow users to send/receive email and ideally hotswap desks." and "Provide a 'network wide' jobs list type board" would point to something like Exchange Server in SBS 2003

300GB SATA HDs are £120 each, so maybe look at using them for your storage. NAS appliance or something for data dumping (seperate from your SQL / Exchange server).

Just a couple of thoughts post-pub <hic>
