Default Finnishing Games

when you buy a new game, do you ALWAYS strive to finish it?

the lads at work seriously aim to finnish every single game they ever own, and pretty much do so with ease, there like a bunch of super gamers or sumthing

i find it hard to finish a game, i seam to lose intrest

GT3 = approx 84%
NFSU2 = about 63% (but ive unlocked all the cars and parts except the wide arch thing and i cant be botherd to race no crappy SUV`s to get 100%
Vice City = about 70% from memory (lost intrest when i knew i was on the very last story mission
San Andreas = about 60% from memory but lost intrest when NFSU2 came out i keep meaning to go back to this one but got pissed of with a long mission and cant be botherd with it

if you get pissed off with a game, do you cheat or sumthing to help you past a heavy part?

I dont often finish my games I also tend to lose interest or i buy a new game and the old one even if not that old gets forgotten about, finished half life2 and never played it since just gone back to playing UT2004 online.

doom3= 5% never liked it so moved onto next game
Halo = 90% got bored
Lord of the rings- battle for middle earth = all of good campaigns
Half Life2 = complete
Many many more.. probably at about 40%

generally get bored pretty easy unless i play it over the net which makes it little more interesting. Somtimes cheat if get really stuck and do want to complete it generally dont get the time to complete them all.

It would take far less time to list the games I have finished - about six. Most games simply bore me after a while, and some cases pretty quickly. It strikes me that game developers are spending more and more time making games pretty, and less and less time making them fun. Try playing Doom 3, then go back and play the original: despite the weak graphics of the old version it is WAY more enjoyable to play. So in most cases I'd rather play an old game I've finished - sometimes several times - than a new game that I've started and given up on.

Would say I have completed about 60% of the games I own ( about 200 PS2/Xbox/Cube games )

I must be some kind of gaming geek...

I always aim to finish a game before buying a new one, but never manage it.

I'm between 50-70% in GT3, GTA3, Vice City, Ninja Gaiden, San Andreas, FFX, NFSU2, Burnout 3, Splinter Cell 2, MOH Rising Sun and Frontline etc etc

Have only finished the driving games, and Splinter Cell 1.

I tend to finish most games...

GT3 - 100%
GT Concept - 96%
GT4 Prologue - got 3 silvers to get rid of then it's gold all the way.
MGS2 - done
Tekken 3 - done
WipEout Fusion - up to level 5 in "Zones" then thats completed
Tomb Raider's 1-6 - done
Halo 2 - no idea -It's boring.
PGR2 - Kudos Rank 46 (but not finished playing yet)
TimeSplitters - Done most of the levels in "Hard" on story mode
TimeSplitters 2 - Only done the first level in "Hard on story mode.
Ratchet & Clank - need to kill last boss then all 3 games done.
Jak & Daxter - done (Jak II is more boring than Halo 2)

Evil Dead & Colin McRae 2005 - haven't even started yet...

I try to finish a game, but real life kinda gets in the way, then you lose the flow and move onto something else. Sometimes I'll go back to a game and play it solid for a couple of days to finish it, or if a sequel is on it's way I'll always try and finish the last one, mainly for storyline \ platform games etc.

couple of days

takes me weeks
lad who i got rid of at work had finnished NFSU before most of us had even played it once

im currently playing loads of MAME arcade roms in the office (nowt to do )
and to finnish a proper arcade game must take serious amounts of cash (we did 3 of them the other day)

it got me thinking onto proper console games, and how many people actualy see the end of them.

ive noticed that once you get to the 2/3rd level in most arcade games the devolpers just throw ****loads of enemeys at you to blatently kill you, so you throw more cash in, its not subtle, theres no level design or anything to keep you hooked, its like they say "right you have had 5 mins fun now GTFO our machine"

God knows how long GT4 is going to take, and I very much doubt I'll get Metal Gear Solid 3 done in the 5 days beforehand.

Ratchet & Clank 2 had a sly way to keep you playing after you'd finished it - there are weapons only available on the 2nd lap round - I'm currently on the 3rd way round and still don't have them all...

My problem is I like to explore a game, whereas some folk like to rush through it as quickly as poss to say they have finished first.

So I spend hours exploring, but then get bored before getting any further in.

Point in case in San Andreas - i've played it for over 30 hours now, just riding the motocross bike around (and jumping of the mountain ), but i'm only about 10% into the game.

Most rewarding completion I ever did was FFVII on PS1 - awesome game, and awesome nail-biting ending fighting Sephiroth, using every ounce of skill and materia
