Mother-in-law's PC has gone on the blink.....a home build that I did about 5 years ago, reckon it's a goner. Don't really want to go down the home build route for her again as it's a bit of a hassle and I'm not entirely convinced she'd save that much money looking at some Dell offers at the moment.

As I've only really built machines from base components I'm not too sure of what other options are out there apart from Dell for a decent home PC at not too much money....bear in mind she's already got a good 19" TFT etc etc so a company who can be flexible in specification would be good.

Thoughts welcome....

 

As much as I love to always build my PCs, you can't go far wrong with a Dell for a non-power user. If it's just for Email, Net and Word (which is what most of the ppl I do repairs for use their PC to do!) then a decent spec Dell is a good choice...and they have some fantastic deals...

I generally build my own machines too, but I've bought three Dell systems (some for work, some for family) and have had no problems with them at all. I think you can buy a base unit without monitor for about £160 plus VAT which will do for just general web surfing and office type stuff. They all come pre-configured and ready to go, much less faff than a DIY
