I'd try doing a few searches on something like "Black and White TV graphics card". It is a common problem and usually it means fiddling around with the settings, or using different cables/inputs on the TV

hi i tried doing this a while ago with my pc I never had the problem of black and white but the tv did only display the wallpaper in the end it was just because the tv was set as the second display device and i had to set it as the first display.
Even after getting it to work though i was so unhappy with the picture quality on the tv that i never bothered with it.
good luck getting yours working mine was on a Nvidia card though.

My Nvidia card i was trying to use at the time was only a very cheap budget card Nvidia Fx5200 256 but the trouble is a tv cannot display at such high resolutions as a monitor can so its likely the picture will never be as good.
but im no expert on the matter On my card in the tool bar you had the card settings options and all i had to do to get it to work was go into output settings and change it from the monitor then the tv to monitor first this then got it working, mind you my tv was nothing special.

card is crap but it should still work
its ironic that the lead works out more expensive than the graphics card
you can buy a new 7000 for under 17 quid (possibly with accompanying tv out lead)
i've never used a scart for input
.always connected it to the yellow video in socket on the tv
using the tv is only worthwhile for movie playback
anything else is pointless and causes eyestrain
