Anyone interested in Computer Forensics?
Might be a couple of posts coming up in this field in West Yorkshire police, some time over the next few months.
The work is some of the most rewarding you could ever do.
pm me for details, or email me (use my profile email address)

It's the police, mate. It's never going to pay loads.
Just thought I'd post here, as I've had several enquiries of this nature in the past through this board.

I would be interested in this if I wasn’t in the north east. I knew some one from here did that kind of thing after reading a thread about fun ways to destroy HD's. Was considering PMing you ask for some information a wile ago asking for information but couldn’t find the thread.
What kind of qualifications do you need?? Do you need to do any police training??

The post is for police support staff. All training would be provided by the force.
You would need a degree or equivalent training/experience to qualify though.

Burr,
If you don't mind me asking, how did you get involved in this? Also, what car do you drive. I think I know a guy in Huddersfield that might know you.
Jeep by any chance?

The job is being advertised in this Tursday's Yorkshire Post / Yorkshire Evening Post.
Digital Evidence Forensic Recovery Officer
£20,265 - £23,934 p.a.
Working within our Computer Crime Unit, Wakefield, you will acquire, examine and analyse electronic-based systems and devices to help us prosecute offenders. With a degree in Computer Studies, or equivalent, you will provide professional advice and assistance to our investigating officers to ensure that electronic evidence is seized in accordance with Best Practice. We'll also look to you to clearly and effectively present evidence, both internally and in court.
Your broad and up-to-date knowledge of common operating systems is complemented by your ability to solve problems methodically. In addition to your technical strengths, you will also need the emotional resilience to deal with abusive and offensive images. A full current UK/European driving licence is required and access to your own vehicle which you are willing to use for business purposes is desirable, as is the willingness to participate in a call out rota. This post is suitable for jobshare.

With a degree... what for 23k... huh!
I'd fancy it for 60+
Be ideal for me, live in Waky, mum works for plod (civi)
But these roles have alsways been on the borderline in term of $$$
****** L1 enginers are on that... with a nice car...
in the IT\Comms industry if you have the tickets then it needs to be min-35k+
i've got all the tickets but no degree...
to me... Degree = burger flipper
mind you i can't even get a simple pc working at the mo!!! See comp related!

I don't have any say in the wages, just opening this up for people who might be interested.
I'm just a copper on a copper's wage, so I'm happy for anyone to headhunt me
