Where do files go when they are deleted ?
I run Windows XP & it sounds like an odd question, but when I delete files where do they go ?
Reason I ask is that I delete a file, then go to the recycle bin & its empty.
Any ideas ?

There's an option (somewhere!) to delete files without sending to the recycle bin. You must have it turned on.
Edit: Right-click on the recycle bin, choose properties. It's in there!

Right click on the Recycle Bin icon
Click properties
Make sure you haven't got a tick in the box next to 'do not remove files.....' and make sure the slider somewhere at least past 30%

Box is not ticked & the slider was on 10% so moved to 35%
The recycle bin is completely empty, would have thought that even at 10% there would be some deleted files in there filling it up ?

nothing, this is most odd.
Its not actually a problem - there is nothing I deleted that I need back, however it will be a problem the moment I delete something important & try to retrieve it !
