Default Where do files go when they are deleted ?

I run Windows XP & it sounds like an odd question, but when I delete files where do they go ?
Reason I ask is that I delete a file, then go to the recycle bin & its empty.

Any ideas ?

Rump.

There's an option (somewhere!) to delete files without sending to the recycle bin. You must have it turned on.

Edit: Right-click on the recycle bin, choose properties. It's in there!

Have you set the percentage of drive space to use for deleted files to zero?

Right click on the Recycle Bin icon

Click properties

Make sure you haven't got a tick in the box next to 'do not remove files.....' and make sure the slider somewhere at least past 30%

Box is not ticked & the slider was on 10% so moved to 35%
The recycle bin is completely empty, would have thought that even at 10% there would be some deleted files in there filling it up ?

Have you tried, Left click Start,, Left click Search, Left click All Files and Folders, Type Deleted files in Second box, Left click Search, This should
Find Missing Files.

nothing, this is most odd.
Its not actually a problem - there is nothing I deleted that I need back, however it will be a problem the moment I delete something important & try to retrieve it !
