A 'Radeon X800XT Platinum' is currently the most expensive - currently go for around 400 big ones in PCI-E form...

I'd imagine that it's also the best.....

You can still get an X800XT, just not the Platinum version.....

And you'll save yourself around 30-40 quid - still not exactly cheap!

Edited to add : I think the only difference between a standard and Platinum X800XT is the clock speeds (500Mhz vs 520Mhz IIRC)

Actually an X850 XT PE is the fastest.

If you don't want to throw silly money at a cutting-edge card, the X600GT is a nice bit of kit for the dosh.

Default what about...

...the geforce 6800GT?

We have two alienware pc's at work, one with the geforce and one with the Radeon. The geforce wins on fps every time

Be careful that's not the sooper dooper PE version, which is the one being talked about.

SLi... SLi... why have one GPU when you can have TWO. But of course that means nVidia, what a shame....
