Angry Brand new Xbox's unchippable?

Anyone else heard that new Xbox's have been doctored so that they can't be chipped?

A friend bought an Xbox just after Xmas and gave to a chipper, he has come back and said that he cant do it as Microsft have installed some new part that prevents chipping.

Not that I have head of. The latest boxes are 1.6 and 1.6b's but both can still be chipped using the X3 chip.

Yes it is. having a quick look the latest version box is 1.6b. Looks like the latest boxes have a new drive verson in some of the a Hitachi LG. There is something about the 1.6's when modded putting a strain on the circuits but from what I can work out the latest Bios from xecuter sorts this problem.

Would be worth finding out what version box you have (can provide link if required?) and what the chip is that he is trying to fit?

true but the current Bios for the 2.6 does not have the same feature that the X3 bios has which deals with the issue mentioned above regarding the stress on the MB. It's far better explained in the forums than i can
