Probably some option in the bios that indicates how much RAM is shared with the video. You'll need to boot the machine and hold down whatever key it tells you to access the bios. Then look for an option that indicates how much RAM is used for video. You should then be able to increase it (depending on it's limits) then save and quit and it should have allocated more RAM to your video.
If you need more help, put up the laptop make and model and someone else (or me) can find and look at the manual for your machine which will normally detail a) how to get into the bios, and b) which option to change. That's if you need help with that bit, don't mean any of that to be patronising!

Hi,cheers
Its a Dell Latitude D505,and there isn't an option in the Bios to alter the video memory (or at least I can't see one)
Its running XP service pack 2,with 768mb memory, and er,Tiger Woods 2005 that struggles a bit

Looking at the specs on the Dell website ( not the easiest thing to navigate! ), it looks like the VRAM is auto configured according to how much RAM you have.
It makes no mention on being able to manually allocate system RAM to it. It says that if you have up to 128MB sys-RAM, it'll allocate 32MB VRAM, and 256+MB sys-RAM, it will allocate 64MB VRAM.
Can you check how much it thinks you have by selecting Run on the Start menu, type in dxdiag and when it comes up, select the Display tab. It should tell you how much VRAM you have. Looks like you are stuck with 64MB tops though

LOL so you are getting there slowly then
I wonder why it says on the manual file that it is 32 or 64MB ????
Hang on, you said it said 64MB earlier, or were you on about the manual and not dxdiag?

sorry,i might be getting mixed up
dxdiag says 64,yet the bios says 'video' is 8,so maybe video refers to something else,i assumed the graphics card,i am obviously wrong
Tiger Woods needs 128,hence the problem
looks like i am buggered if there aint a way of increasing it
