Default Email help please

I am using Windows 2000 & out look express !
I had set up within my inbox various folders which contained all my emails !
Today I log on & all the contents of my inbox has gone (all folders & all the contents)

However sent & receipts still contain all the messages !

Any idea why they have disappeared & can they be got back ?

Thanks

Paul

Cool

It sounds like your personal folders .pst file has not loaded, just go into the options / services menu and check it is still listed and that it is still in the right place.

Cool

Sorry but I am going to have to admit defeat I can not find anything in express that relates to delivery or personal folders, even mooching round the file system I can't find anything that resembles what I think I should be looking for, all I found was the option to import messages etc in File -> Import.

Sorry M8 but I am snookered on this one.

IIRC OE does not use pst's, but dbx files.
Not much idea why they disappeared, but you should be able to find their location.
open OE
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the Maintenance tab, click Store Folder.
Note the location.

By default the files are stored in your "profile", within docs & settings.
Run a search for *.dbx on your hard drive. Note the date of the files. You will be looking for the ones where the date is last known working correctly for you.

It is possible the store location has been changed tho unlikely. Also possible they may have been deleted, check deleted items, if they are there, restore them.

If you find them, you could just change the location as in 1 & 2 above, or copy them to that location.

Outlook Express arranges each folder as files within your login profile C:\Documents and Settings\username .......

Have a search in there for the .dbx files as mentioned already.

Oh, and do you have any Wax Wizard MC2 cleaner in stock ???????
