Hi,

My company are offering to buy me a laptop and i've been asked to source one myself. Budget is roughly £1300, will be using it for mostly word and excel files and internet. what are the better makes/models on the market at the moment as i wouldn't even know where to start!

Cheers

Looks like you're gonna need to do a bit of research then , try this http://www.pcpro.co.uk/otherproductssearch/9/notebooks & http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/

Should get you started and if you see one you like the look of just do a search on Google to find the best prices.

Just bought a Acer 8006LMi which is blistering fast and comes pretty much spec'd out with a 2.0M P4 M Dothan, 512mb ram, 80GB hard disk, 9700 mobile 128mb and DVD writer. It also has a very good 15" screen.

Wink

I've had the ACER travelmate p4 2.8 dvd writer etc, but found it to be a heavy thing to lump around, my FD's just bought me the Tosh. Portege, around £1400 + vAT but it is light to carry, and has ace performance and a dvd writer etc. Cant go wrong in my opinion

The 8000 series travelmates are based on the Mobile P4 so have good battery life, are very quick and are pretty light. Much lighter than the old Dell Lattitude I used to lug around.
